FADE IN:
EXT. GROCERY STORE - DAY
Random SHOPPERS enter and exit the grocery store. They are varied and go about their business. Settle on GRIFF (middle-aged), sitting in his older, dented car. He watches AIMEE, her husband SAM, and her 2 KIDS load groceries into her SUV. Aimee and Sam kiss goodbye, then Sam and the kids get into his sedan. Aimee drives off in her SUV.
INT. GRIFF'S CAR - LATER
Aimee enters her driveway. Griff comes to a stop a couple houses away and watches Aimee unload groceries. One of the grocery bags rips and food tumbles out. Griff closes his eyes in momentary ecstasy, then exits his car and walks briskly toward her.
EXT. AIMEE & SAM'S HOUSE - SAME
GRIFF Can I help you with that?
Aimee looks up, aware of him for the first time.
AIMEE Oh, no, I'm fine, thanks.
GRIFF It's really no problem.
He bends down and starts picking up groceries off the driveway. Aimee hesitates, then resumes picking them up herself.
AIMEE Thank you.
GRIFF 'Least I can do.
They walk toward the house.
AIMEE Do you live around here?
GRIFF Just down the street. I was out walking my dog.
They get to the front door. 2.
AIMEE Where's your dog?
GRIFF What?
AIMEE You said you were walking your dog. Where is he?
GRIFF I was walking home to pick him up... then walk him.
Aimee knows he's lying.
AIMEE Listen, thanks for your help, but I've got it from here.
GRIFF No, it's okay. I'll carry them in for you.
AIMEE Really, I insist.
GRIFF (shrugging) Suit yourself.
He places the groceries on the ground, then walks away.
GRIFF (CONT'D) (over his shoulder) You have a nice day, ma'am.
AIMEE (hesitant) Thank you. You too.
She collects her breath, then unlocks the door. As soon as she steps inside, Griff races up behind her and SHOVES her hard inside. He looks around to make sure no one in the neighborhood saw him, then closes the door behind him.
INT. AIMEE & SAM'S HOUSE - SAME
Aimee, on the ground, fumbles for her purse. She grabs a can of mace, but Griff races over and kicks it out of her hand.
AIMEE Get out of my house! 3.
GRIFF Shut up.
He kneels down and PUNCHES her hard. Blood spurts out of her nose as she struggles to catch her breath.
Griff pulls the phone cord out of the wall, then manhandles her and binds her wrists behind her back.
AIMEE Let me go!
He rips off part of her shirt as she SCREAMS. He wads it up and shoves it in her mouth to silence her.
GRIFF Why are you fighting me, honey?
Satisfied that she's secure, he heads back to the front door. He peeks outside the window to make sure no one's watching, then heads back out --
EXT. AIMEE & SAM'S HOUSE - SAME
He heads to the SUV to close the door, then comes back to the front door, picks up the groceries he put down earlier. He checks once more over his shoulder, then goes back in --
INT. AIMEE & SAM'S HOUSE - SAME
He sees Aimee trying to dig through her purse with her hands still tied behind her back. She grabs her cell phone. He races over and KICKS her in the stomach, doubling her over in COUGHING pain.
GRIFF Please stop doing that, dear.
She is coiled over on her side, trying to catch her breath.
Griff looks around the house, getting his bearings. It's a typical upper middle class home with pictures on the mantle and flowers in the vases.
GRIFF (CONT'D) It's not fair.
He grabs her pony tail and lifts her to her feet. She struggles, but he controls her head. He takes her over to the living room and shoves her onto the couch, face-first. She struggles to free herself, but can't.
He walks to the mantle and collects her family photos in his arms. 4.
He brings them over to the couch and arranges them against the arm in front of her face.
GRIFF (CONT'D) It's so beautiful. Don't you think?
He walks to the kitchen o.s.
She looks at the photos and cries.
He returns with a large pair of scissors. She sees it and tries to scream, but it's muffled.
He roughly cuts away the rest of her shirt, then bra, then pants. She lays there mostly naked while he stands over her with the scissors.
He stands mostly behind her so they can look at the photos together.
GRIFF (CONT'D) That could be us. Wouldn't we be beautiful?
He puts the scissors down in front of her face then moves behind her and unzips his pants. She tries to scream again, but it's still muffled.
PULL OUT OF THE ROOM as he mounts her from behind...
DIP TO BLACK.
EXT. AIMEE & SAM'S HOUSE - LATER
Griff comes out of the house. He stands in the doorway, looking around at the tranquillity of suburbia. He breathes in the air, satisfied.
He looks down at his hands. REVEAL: they are covered in blood up to his elbows, as are his shirt and pants.
He licks one of his fingers to see what it tastes like. He bobbles his head, indicating it tastes okay.
He wipes his hands on the doorframe, then walks away from the house.
DIP TO BLACK.
SMASH CUT IN 5.
INT. GRIFF'S CAR - DAY
He is started awake by a car driving by. He looks around and sees that he is still parked near Aimee's house. Their doorframe is clean again.
The car that drove by was Sam's. He pulls into the driveway next to Aimee's SUV. Sam and the Kids get out and head for the door. Aimee exits the house - PERFECTLY FINE - and greets the Kids with big hugs.
Griff looks at his hands. One of them has crusted ejaculate on it, but there's no blood. He sees that his pants are unzipped, but there's no blood anywhere.
He looks back up to see Aimee hugging and talking to her kids.
GRIFF I love you, honey.
He collects himself, zips up his pants, then drives away, past Aimee and her family walking inside.
CREDITS OVER:
EXT. GRIFF'S CAR - SAME
Griff pulls into traffic on LV Blvd, blending in with the other cars.
FADE OUT.
